Belated Thanksgiving

I just realized the other day that I forgot to post some pictures from our families Thanksgiving.  This was a funny sight. My dad and mom trying to get the 27 pound turkey out of a cheap ,very large disposable cooking tray. I was having a bit of a hard time with my camera because I forgot that it was still set to auto bracketing. So the exposure was changing magically every time I took a picture. Duh! lol  But despite all that the site was hilarious. Love you mom and Dad!

Backyard

I recently shot some Real Estate Photos for an Agent I work for on occasion. The House was pretty standard but the backyard of this place was like a totally different world. I snapped a few for fun and this one was one of my favorites.

Christmas is coming are you excited!

New wedding

This is a sample from one of my more recent weddings.  I worked with a photographer from san francisco named Sheila Garvey. It was a pleasure working with her. We got some nice stuff. Congrats! Brad and Becky.

Danielle LOVES to study

Just in case you missed it the title of these is Danielle LOVES to Study
Actually I think its the opposite,

But I think in these pictures she looks like she's having fun anyway. I was just cleaning the house the other day. Danielle used to help me with that but now that she's in school full time. Its on me lol. So i was walking  by my bed room when I saw her propped up in the corner of my bed in a pile of my clean laundry. The lighting was nice and my camera bag just happened to be at my feet in a pile of some more laundry!  So I grabbed it up and shot a couple shots of her exercising that big brain of hers. Isn't she cute! lol

My New Microwave

My parents asked me what I wanted for christmas this year so I thought reeeeal hard about it and my microwave had been on the fritz! Lately. It kinda stays on when you open it, so you end up having to chase down your food as it spins around in there. So any way they picked me up a Sweeeet! New Over the range Microwave on one of those black friday deals. I didn't feel like chasing my food any more so they gave it to me early, and I installed it last sunday. Here it is, and here is Danielle cleaning up my mess after i messed up the cabinets installing it. Lol
I think it looks pretty gooooood. Except yeah I have to get matching cabinets, the little one above the microwave is new. I had to pick up a new one that would make more room for the microwave.

Zachs pics

Hi everyone,
My kid brother is in 11th grade now. Its hard to believe but our mom didnt want the lame school pictures that the school photography company offers so I took some shots for her to send out to the Family. They turned out real nice. I have only had the chance to process one of them so far there will most likely be more to come.

Davidson Family portraits

Hey there,

I recently shot some family portraits of the Davidsons. I can't say it was an easy task. Lol but here are some of my favorites that came out real nice.

Two Posts In One Day!! I know, I know calm down. Lol Just Kidding I don't even think any one reads these. I'm pretty sure most people just look at the pictures. Either way, these are from yesterday. We have had some very interesting weather in Maryland over the past few weeks. It's been almost every kind of weather you can think of, all rolled into one month. It was really warm and humid yesterday, which is weird for November. Oh yeah, its november , I just had a birthday so thats cool. There were some great clouds out yesterday, very much like the kind you would see in Florida. I took my bike up to Baltimore to keep Danielle company because she had to babysit her three younger bothers. So we went out and took a walk around her neighborhood. She lives in Federal Hill in Baltimore. There are always fun things to shoot in Baltimore. It was fun watching her try n control three very hyper 9 year olds. We ran into one of their little friends, Rachel, you will see a pic of her. It was nice to get out  though. I've been cooped up for a while coming off the end of the wedding busy season.  Oh, by the way, it rained really hard on my way home too, so that wasn't really fun. Ok here ya go. enjoy!

Dads Birthday

Hi again,

I meant to post these a few weeks ago, I just hadn't gotten around to processing the images until recently.  Your going to think that all I do in my free time is go to Great Falls, but that's not true. Lol My family and I, minus my sister who lives in Texas now, took a trip to Great Falls to enjoy the weather for my dads 53rd birthday.  Don't tell my dad he's 53 though. We took the more difficult trail, which is the most scenic, like it was nothing. It was a good time with the exception of my mom getting her foot caught in a rock and biting the dust. She lived though. Lol anyhow here are a few pics from the day. I'm posting the group shot a couple of times; one in a sepia tone, which is my favorite, and one in color, because of the colors in the leaves.

Hello Everybody! I'm back to write the second edition of my blog.

One good thing about living in Maryland is that we get to enjoy the 4 seasons. We usually get snow during the winter, sweltering heat in the summer, lots of rain in the spring, and (my favorite!) beautiful colors in the fall. I live very close to the Virginia/Maryland border where there is a state park off of the Potomac river called Great Falls. This place is awesome if you are ever looking for a good hike. Filled with dangerous cliffs and zig zagging foot trails.  The water never gets too wild in the river but you do see the occasional kayaker. Occasional? Actually a lot of them there all the time. lol Any how the park is beautiful but especially beautiful in the fall.  There are all kinds of reds, oranges, and yellows in the trees. So Ian and I have been wanting to head up there and take some pictures to capture the Autumn season for a while so we thought what better time than 5 am! lol. We wanted to take advantage of the soft light you get during a sunrise. This is actually the second time we have made plans to shoot some thing at that ungodly hour in the morning and actually went through with it. Dragging my self out of bed at that time in the morning when I don't have to for work is  definitely a challenge. This place, Great Falls, is always packed. Its a very popular place to spend a day on the weekend if your a local. So pulling into the parking lot, (if you can call it that, its more like a dirt plot with some rocks and some port a' potty's lol) and being the only ones there this time was a bit odd. So with the sun coming up fast we ran down the trail to find a place that Ian had in mind to catch the sunrise. Did i mention that this trail wasn't the safest thing to be running down with thousands of dollars of camera equipment on your back! lol It really was nice; the air was very crisp and it wasn't too chilly outside once we got moving. Perfect weather- really something you need sometimes to get away from the every day. It was especially peaceful being the only people there. So we got going. The sun is always hard to catch just right because once it starts coming up, it does so very quickly! lol.
I got some great stuff . It was funny because right as we were finishing up, about 6 other photographers showed up, doing the same thing we were doing I'm assuming. I wanted to shout down to them "awwww too late we already shot that!" lol but I'm a nice guy and I didn't. So any way, here are some early samples from our shoot. We shot all our images in HDR and it really does something special for a land scape.  This is my first time experimenting with it and I've got to admit that it is addicting.

Until next time,

-Justin

My First Post Ever!

Hello everyone,

This is my First post to this blog ever. I've decided I have more pictures and cool stories I would like to share with the world and what better place to do that than a Blog! I must apologize and warn you now. I tend to type like I instant message. Poor grammar and punctuation, basically lol. So unless my girlfriend (Danielle, who I love dearly) is reading this behind me cleaning up my mess. Please bear with me. There's so many new pictures and cool things I've done recently Im not sure at what point to start. I think I might start with the really recent then backtrack some. For those of you who don't know me, allow me to introduce my self. My name is Justin Mein. I love photography and I know everyone who shoots says this and it may sound a bit cliche, but it is true. It is originally what got me started shooting wedding and other things. I started this web site www.JmeinPhotography.com about a year ago to share my work with the world especially potential customers. I felt however I still needed a place where I could share my artistic work or just fun stuff I randomly shot. So check back every so often and there may be a cool story or a fun image I wanted to share. Or I maybe I'll be lazy and this is all you will see.  Who knows! lol We will see what happens. Comment If you'd like. Or ask me a question.
 Thanks for reading!

-Yours truly

My buddy Ian and I ride sports bikes, and any one who rides knows its no fun to ride when its freezing cold so we took a Ride a couple of weeks ago down  New Hampshire road to see the sites shoot some, and just enjoy the weather.  We stopped a couple of times a got some cool shots from it. At one point we were inside this Old house that had a do not enter but of course we did any way. It was real neat inside. Ian and I were setting up some  HDR shots and this Old man comes screaming up the hill in his truck honking the horn. At that point I was like hmmm we should probably have asked lol. Any way he told us to "get the hell out of there, who do we think we are", and "do we have any Idea how many germs are in there" LOL. Pretty funny.  Any how these are a couple of shots from that day. I may post more later.

This is my first try at this technique I learned recently. It was pretty interesting to see a bunch of me standing around, but I thought it turned out pretty neat.
